Who We Are

United Cities works at the nexus between cities, technology and finance. We believe that cities and local communities are critically important as countries and regions scramble to implement the UN SDGs and the Paris Climate Accord. However, not enough has been done to provide cities with the data, knowledge and networks needed to plan and govern sustainably. The United Cities Charter is an important step towards mustering the support and solutions needed.

To support our work, we encourage you to download and sign the United Cities Charter. Please share you selfie on social media, using #UnitedCitiesCharter tag to connect to the global movement.

The United Cities Sustainability Centre Norway was the first United Cities Charter Centre to be established.  Setting up Charter Centres in an integral part of building the global capacity to implement the United Cities Charter.

The Sustainability Centre Norway is an independent Profit for Purposes Company that supports the work United Cities in a number of way:  Evaluation and City Assessments, training, as well as support for key United Cities Programs and Events.

United Cities Internship Program

Our Internship Program offers young professionals from all over the world a the opportunity to work with the implementation of the United Cities Charter. The Program represents a long term investment in knowledge, leadership and networks.

The time for half-measures, incrementalism and siloed actors is over. There are 10,000 cities with 50,000 people in the world. We are committed together with KPMG and our global partners to reach all 10,000 cities by 2030, scaling 10X from the first 1,000 in the next year.

To meet the magnitude of this goal, United Cities has partnered with SDG Impact Fund to create United Cities Funds as a global catalytic capital facility dedicated to enabling all 10,000 cities to transition to NetZero prosperity across the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030”
